Older homes that have been well-cared for typically are in great condition, but there are also homes that have not been maintained well and may have no updates in them at all. For example, you might walk into a house that was built in the 70s and discover that everything is modern, or you might find that you are walking into a home that is totally 70s, as it has never been updated.

The potential for hazardous building materials

One of the main things to examine in an older home is the mechanics and systems it contains. If these things are all original, you should expect to have to put some money into the home to replace them, especially if you have to replace the electrical system or the plumbing system.
