If you need to sell your home so you can move into a new home, it can take time to find a buyer. Your real estate agent will work very hard for you to get it sold, but you can help them out by doing some things yourself, three of which are listed below. You can then move into your new home and get settled in.

Use Social Media

Most people look online when they want to buy something, and that includes when looking for a new home. Social media is one way to reach a lot of people at one time. Set up a social media page separate from your personal page, if you prefer. Put a lot of detailed pictures of your home on your page, with explanations about what is in each room. Telling funny stories of things that happened in the home can also be helpful.

Post a video on your social media page. Walk people through your home room by room, explaining what you love about the house. Also walk through your neighborhood, showing any local parks, schools, or your favorite coffee shop.

Make Some Repairs

If you have anything in your home that needs to be repaired, you should do it now. This could be small things like painting over any scratches on the wall and making sure that all doorknobs work and that all handles are tight and secure, such as on the windows, cabinets, etc.

Hire a carpet cleaning company to steam clean your carpeting. This will not only make your home look great, but will give your home a clean smell.

You should not spend a lot of money making repairs to your home, such as installing a new HVAC unit or installing new plumbing.

Fix Up the Exterior

Because the first thing potential home buyers will see is the exterior of your home, you should fix things up. Look over your home closely and ensure it is completely clean. If you have not painted your home in quite some time, this would be a good time to do it.

If you have a patio, make sure everything is clean, including the furniture. Add some potted plants or flowers on the patio. If potential home buyers like to entertain, this would be a great selling point of your home.

Make sure all exterior doors are clean and in great condition. If your doors do not look good, you can give them a new paint job to make them look brand new.

If your yard is not landscaped, plant a few annuals, such as petunias, vincas, or begonias in the front of your home. If it is in your budget, hire a landscaper to landscape the yard for you.
